I am seeing in syslog a lot of messages about postfix sending mail to the root:

mx postfix/pipe[11931]: 6FAB75F24B: to=<root@mx.domain.com>

This happens many times in a day. Why is postfix doing this? Can I turn it off since I am only interested in external mail?

Thanks!

Seems some Postfix pipe transport generates output while running, you need to check your custom transports defined in /etc/postfix/master.cf.
