====

I find this odd because this is my second install on the same server with same issue,

RoundCube is reporting cannot connect to database. I am lacking in understanding this as I am able to add domains, users, etc which I see being added into the same database.

Error in maillog

LOGIN: Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more information. in /opt/www/roundcubemail-1.3.8/program/lib/Roundcube/rcube_imap.php on line 196 (POST /mail/?_task=login&_action=login)

There is only /var/log/mysql/error.log which is not even showing any errors.

Nothing in /var/log/messages for error

/var/log/syslog is showing same error

LOGIN: Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more information. in /opt/www/roundcubemail-1.3.8/program/lib/Roundcube/rcube_imap.php on line 196 (POST /mail/?_task=login&_action=login)

I also see dovecot reporting a non informative issue in  /var/log/dovecot/dovecot.log

Aug 21 16:44:00 mail dovecot: imap: Error: Invalid user settings. Refer to server log for more information.

EDIT:

Got it resolved. It was ownership permission issue for the folders I moved over

for future searchers:

chown -R vmail:vmail /var/vmail/
