Does allow_nets take in a single public ip address. I was following the tutorial on this page https://docs.iredmail.org/restrict.mail … eferences. with backend MariaDB and I have tried entering my home public ip (but I have not tried my server ip addres) and it always blocks my computer, I have also tried with multiple browsers with no success. Also I was wondering how one could change the first mail domain name. Thanks for all the help.

The document is correct.
Please turn on debug mode in Dovecot to figure out why it doesn't work as you expected:

Re: Allow_nets ip issue and how to change first mail domain name

So I found out through the dovecot logs that the issue was that whenever I logged in through webmail it said I was local host even though I was using my home computer and not the server to access it. I looked something up and it said something about round cube using squirrel mail which is why every time the ip becomes 127.0.0.1. What I did was whitelist iredadmin, sogo, and roundcube by following the instructions here (https://forum.iredmail.org/topic14872-r … rator.html) as well as using allow_nets to block anything that wasn't my ip and 127.0.0.1. Also how would one could change the first mail domain name. Thanks for the answers.

Re: Allow_nets ip issue and how to change first mail domain name

If you're accessing mailbox via webmail (running on same server), Dovecot gets client IP address "127.0.0.1" instead of the public IP of your home computer.
