Topic: Is it possible to install and run without a web interface?

==== REQUIRED BASIC INFO OF YOUR IREDMAIL SERVER ====
- iRedMail version (check /etc/iredmail-release):
- Deployed with iRedMail Easy or the downloadable installer?
- Linux/BSD distribution name and version:
- Store mail accounts in which backend (LDAP/MySQL/PGSQL):
- Web server (Apache or Nginx):
- Manage mail accounts with iRedAdmin-Pro?
- [IMPORTANT] Related original log or error message is required if you're experiencing an issue.
====

I'd like to know how non-standard of a setup would be to configure the mail server bit so that there is no public facing web interface at all -- and use desktop and mobile clients exclusively?

Will doing that remove the admin interface?

I have done several trial run setups on Ubuntu server and plan on using 20.04.

During the installation process you can select what you want.

In your case you could install the Nginx web server but deselect all web interface except for iRedAdmin and netdata so that you can manage accounts and stuff. Then you just need to deny all access for those web pages except for locahost or your local network.
