Please update package "ca-certificates" on your server first, then run iRedMail installer again.

However, no update is available.

Seems your local network issue.
What's the result of commands below?

Thanks again. running it shows connected but stuck...with the cursor blinking for over 4 mins

It's like a network issue. Could you try on another network? for example, setup a new VPS.
