Iredmail server was initially installed as a POC  in a cloud provider with only a 32gb OS SSD drive ,unfortunately this was not reinstalled before going into production , the 32gb drive space ran out of space yesterday , i have increased the VM Drive size but clearly Iredmail still only looks at the 32gb

Filesystem      Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/root       248G   30G  219G  13% /                               The problem is HERE the used 30 GB
tmpfs           3.9G  344K  3.9G   1% /dev/shm
tmpfs           1.6G  1.3M  1.6G   1% /run
tmpfs           5.0M     0  5.0M   0% /run/lock
efivarfs        128M  9.7K  128M   1% /sys/firmware/efi/efivars

tmpfs           793M  4.0K  793M   1% /run/user/1000

Any help in resolving this will be greatly appreciated

You have to resize the disk partition to use extra space. Please check Ubuntu administration document instead.
