Topic: iRedAdmin - Fail2Ban Alert - Throttling Exceeded
I had a client have their password skimmed from another site and used to log into their email. Throttling knocked the amount of spam going out but the spammers started slow and kept throttling from kicking in for the first few hours.
Then when they went mad - the throttling tripped - but it did not notify me.
It seems iRedAdmin doesnt notify postmaster via email if throttle is exceeded.
There is no docs i can find to fix this.
I submit the following as a how to to add in notifications for throttling :
https://outsourcedit.co.nz/adding-throt … dmin-mail/
Feel free to use it on the site, reuse it - but if you would kindly give credit to the source / author, that would be appreciated.
As a follow up - the client got notified when they couldn't send an email to gMail - possibly by iRedmil, or by gMail . If iRed mail lets the sender know throttling is exceeded it could be used as a back scatter attack?
