Topic: [SOLVED] Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction

My server all of a sudden has started to crawl , even with 1200 emails in the que, it takes hours before mails are delivered.
It seems the problem is the Amavisd database.

when i try to even delete one message: i get this error, trying to restart mysql , it aint gonna restart but just hangs there, rebooting also doesnt help.

veriosn is : Freebsd 8.2 - 64bit
IredAdmin 1.6.1 Ldap edition.

any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my production server.

Any error log in postfix log file?

Looks like the major culprit was clamav. After turining up log level , a single mail took 20-30s to get scanned. Upgrading clamav to clamav-0.97.1 solved the problem.
