I'm afraid i don't quite understand what the issue is. Could you please write short sentences instead of a LONG one?

Re: mxbackup

Hi,

MXbackup option enabled for a domain to send to normal mail server. When main server is turned off the mxbackup (iredpro) server collects the mail as it should.

When main server is back online it doesn't send, nothing in the sent log on iredadmin and nothing in Roundcube or apple mail which are connected to the main server.... This is true until I try using outlook on the Mac and it finds the mail has been forwarded to main server but only shown when searched for it's not in inbox / junk etc and has an error in mail header saying.... This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand
this format, some or all of this message may not be legible.

This I'm presuming is the reason it isn't showing in any mail apps as it can't be read, there are no logs saying it's been sent from mxbackup either?

Hope this is slightly clearer for you.

Re: mxbackup

Emails received on backup mx server were stored in Postfix mail queue, not in user's mailbox, so you cannot read them with an IMAP client like webmail or Thunderbird. After primary mx is online, Postfix on backup mx will send all queued emails to primary mx.

Where di you get the error message "This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand ..."?

Hi

It isn’t working out for me like that i’m Afraid, i’ve Run tests by powering down the main mail server and allowing mail to que in mxbackup server when the main server comes online it sends the emails but they are invisible to roundcube, apple mail and outlook.... For some reason they only show on outlook on the mac but with a display error message something about mime format??

This would most likely show why they cant display on other mail clients or roundcube, my question is what is altering the message to mime format in iredadmin backup mx?

Just to be clear i’m Connecting outlook / thunderbird etc to my main mail server i know it cannot be connected to the mxbackup.

Thanks

What's the error message?

Also, did you check Postfix log file on primary server while the backup mx relaying mail? Any error? Are you sure emails were delivered to mailbox?
