====
This morning while in search of a mail solution for a VPS I tried Iredmail three times all with the same result. Each time it would install correctly and end with no error but the URL presented for the admin panel IredAdmin always resulted in not found despite the fact that the domain itself was working.

The three installations were made on Centos 7, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Debian 9.

The working domain is http://leb.org.uk but the installation wants me to contact https://server.leb.org.uk/iredadmin and it doesn't want to know.

What can I do to fix this please?

Thanks

Re: Won't connect to iredadmin

Try to access it with your server IP address:  https://xx.xx.xx.xx/iredadmin/

if you want to access websites with a domain name, this domain name must point to an IP address. so the question is: is server.leb.org.uk pointed to an IP address in DNS?

I tried it with the IP address and it didn't work that time either. http://leb.org.uk points to the IP address so if you try that you will find it points to the server whose full name is server.leb.org.uk. There is a question of where the mismatch is between what iRedAdmin is expecting and what it is getting.

Re: Won't connect to iredadmin

1: is nginx service running?
2: Do you have any network firewall sits between iRedMail server and internet? Are network ports 80 and 443 open in firewall?

1: No. I wanted to use Apache but it didn't appear in the setup options despite begin installed.
2: No firewall installed.

I think the problem lies with the DNS but I don't know how to solve it. The iredamin is looking for a hostname that it can't connect to but the server is called server.leb.org.uk and connects to leb.org.uk. So if I reinstall it how do I a) get it to recognise Apache and b) get it to use a working hostname?
Thanks

Re: Won't connect to iredadmin

1: iRedMail doesn't ship Apache anymore, so you won't get it after iRedMail installation. But it's free to install it by yourself manually.
2: No matter DNS records are right or not, accessing with IP address should be always fine. One possible issue is port 80/443 are not open in firewall.

1: My point was that iRedMail doesn't recognise that Apache is already installed and offer to let you use it, in the dialog box, not that it is supplied, or not.

2: I didn't need to try it with the IP address see 3:

3: The problem is fixed. The VPS prefixed "server" to the hostname of leb.org.uk making life complicated not just with this installation. I edited the hostname in the control panel of the VPS to remove the "server" prefix just leaving the unappended hostname and it works.

4: This query is now closed, thank you for your responses.
