Hi there

The mail server is set up and sending/receiving fine. I am also able to set up my mail@ckhatton.com account with Thunderbird.

The problem is, when I try get Gmail to retrieve mail via POP3, it never connects via secure/insecure. I have tried ports 110 and 995. I also followed this guide because I don't think Gmail uses STARTTLS... https://docs.iredmail.org/allow.insecur … tions.html But it didn't make a difference anyway.

Do you know what's up?

Is there a outsider connection log I can look at on the mail server?

Cheers
Chris

Check this tutorial: https://docs.iredmail.org/#mua
You will find correct network ports and secure connections.

Hi ZhangHuangbin

I had already seen and used that page.

Is there an error log somewhere I can look to debug what is going wrong?

Cheers
Chris

Re: Gmail - POP3: Connection timed out

It is like Google Mail is blocked from accessing the server. I have also found I cannot get it to send from my server either.

All other mail clients (like Thunderbird) connect to the server fine!

Re: Gmail - POP3: Connection timed out

- Stop fail2ban service and try again.
- on iRedMail, you can check Dovecot log under /var/log/dovecot*

Re: Gmail - POP3: Connection timed out

When you say "Stop fail2ban service and try again", do you mean the command...

sudo service fail2ban stop

Because that didn't make any difference.

Nothing is being reported in the "pop3.log*" files when I try to connect.

If nothing in pop3.log, that means Gmail didn't connect to your server at all. Please make sure:

- you entered correct POP3 server address in Gmail
- no firewall rules to block pop3 access (port 110, 995) on your server side and ISP side
