Is this indicating something wrong or missing in my configuration? should I have done something post installation and did not? if so what?

iRedMail doesn't run SpamAssassin as a daemon service (spamd).

How do I fix it?
This is a default new installation so something must have gone wrong.

Just stop the "spamd" service:

systemctl disable --now spamd
