Topic: cannot login to iredmail after centos8 updates

this installation is about one month old and had been working fine. I used yum update to make sure centos was up-to-date. After a handful of packages had been installed, clients were getting can't log into server or server not responding.
I tried postbox on mac but could connect. I tried roundcube. I get the roundcube screen, enter user and passwords but get connection to storage server failed.

I have found this in

/var/log/dovecot/

CentOS 8 recently rolled out Dovecot-2.3.x, which is not fully compatible with Dovecot-2.2.x.

I did the dovecot.conf mods per page.
I did NOT do the mysql changes.

still can't log in.

Do I need to do the sql changes?

triple checked that I performed all the changes listed on the dovecot 2.2 to 2.3 page you referred me to. Also made sure the new columns to mailbox do exist on my system.
There must be something else that caused the problem.

I can log into admin and check users/domains but cannot log into redcube.

any other suggestions?

Still Dovecot configuration error. If you follow our tutorial strictly, Dovecot should work just fine.

Please try this:

- Restart Dovecot service.
- Check /var/log/dovecot/dovecot.log immediately, any error message?
