Topic: amavisd keeps crashing/refusing connections stopping all mail flow.

==== REQUIRED BASIC INFO OF YOUR IREDMAIL SERVER ====
- iRedMail version (check /etc/iredmail-release): 1.4.2
- Deployed with iRedMail Easy or the downloadable installer?  Easy
- Linux/BSD distribution name and version: Debian 11
- Store mail accounts in which backend (LDAP/MySQL/PGSQL): MySQL
- Web server (Apache or Nginx): Nginx
- Manage mail accounts with iRedAdmin-Pro?  Regular
- [IMPORTANT] Related original log or error message is required if you're experiencing an issue.
====
From one of many in the postfix mail.log (I can't find a log for amavis:)

"Dec 11 04:07:02 red postfix/amavis/smtp[114133]: connect to 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]:10026: Connection refused"

Of course this restricts all mail period.  After rebooting, a bunch of messages started trickling in.  But the other problem is with the docs which talk of an earlier version:

"Use one DKIM key for all mail domains

If you want to use one DKIM key for all mail domains, please follow steps below:
Make sure you have at least one DKIM key configured like below in Amavisd config file (amavisd.conf):"

However, on debian 11 (amavisd-new) there IS no such file anywhere on the hard drive.  I can't seem to find anything comparable so what happened to the main .conf file?  And why are the docs silent on this when they explicitly recommend debian 11?

Confused.

Regards,
Steve

EDIT:  By the way, this is a few days old install that I'm testing, not a long-haul beast yet!

Hi,

In debian the config file is in /etc/amavis/conf.d/50-user

Please, read this document: https://docs.iredmail.org/file.locations.html#amavisd

Hi,

Thanks very much for the info and the link.  Hopefully this will get things on track.

Re: amavisd keeps crashing/refusing connections stopping all mail flow.

How much memory does this server have? at least 4GB is required for a low traffic mail server in production.
Amavisd and ClamAV may fail to start if no enough memory.

Hello, before I upgraded to Debian 11 I had a 2GB RAM VPS running iredmail with amavisd, clamav, and spamassasin just fine. However after I upgraded to debian 11 I noticed amavis keeps crashing without any logs indicating as to why. I frequently have to ssh into the server to restart amavis. Is this because I don't have enough memory?

As mentioned in iRedMail installation tutorials, at least 4GB memory is required for a low traffic production mail server.
