Topic: Not sure of terms - accept emails into iRedMail from my PBX

==== REQUIRED BASIC INFO OF YOUR IREDMAIL SERVER ====
- iRedMail version (check /etc/iredmail-release):
- Deployed with iRedMail Easy or the downloadable installer?
- Linux/BSD distribution name and version:
- Store mail accounts in which backend  (LDAP/MySQL/PGSQL):
- Web server (Apache or Nginx):
- Manage mail accounts with iRedAdmin-Pro?
- [IMPORTANT] Related original log or error message is required if you're experiencing an issue.

version 1.3.1 w/LDAP and nginx

Please forgive me as I get all of the tech-speak wrong in this email:

I have a PBX in my basement running Asterisk (IncrediblePBX).  I have iRedMail running on a cloud VPS.
The PBX sends emails to users with voicemail attachments; it presently uses GMail as a relay host (I believe this is correct nomenclature).  The PBX uses sendmail.

Gmail is threatening to pull access from insecure apps - of which the PBX would be one.  Since I have my own mail server I might as well change away before they cut me off (if ever).

What settings do I need to google/find a how-to on the iRedMail side?
What do I need to set on the PBX in my sendmail.cf or other files to correctly send an email which iRedMail will forward along?

Thanks so much.

Andrew

Perhaps I was unclear.

Presently the PBX uses sendmail / smarthost to send an email to google (gmail) which 'acts' as the sender and forwards the email to the user with the attachment.

I want to substitute iRedMail for gmail - what settings do I need on iRedMail to act as 'whatever the term is' (gateway?)?  What settings (if you are so inclined), are needed on the sendmail (linux pbx side).

The directions I used long ago are something like this:

https://www.voip-info.org/forum/threads … dmail.974/

I'm assuming and will test that I need to sub out all the gmail for my mail server; not sure what else - that will be step 2 (or 12) <g>.

Thanks all.

Configure your PBX to connect to iRedMail server directly, and send email with SMTP authentication, then it's done. No smarthost / relay required.
