Hello all,

First, this is test server, I try to migrate very old 0.9.7 to latest version going step by step.

I open web page by IP address, not domain name.

I followed upgrade guide to upgrade from 1.8.0 to 1.8.1.

The first error I faced was that script needed "system" enabled in php.ini

After enabling, installation went without errors.

Then I disabled "system" in php.in.

After restarting nginx, I get this error on web page:

"Oops... something went wrong!

An internal error has occurred. Your request cannot be processed at this time.

For administrators: Please check the application and/or server error logs for more information."

The only error in log is:
2026/10/29 20:25:31 [error] 81022#0: *7 open() "/var/www/htdocs/mail/skins/elastic/images/favicon.ico" failed (2: No such file or directory), client: 192.168.5.106, server: _, request: "GET /mail/skins/elastic/images/favicon.ico?s=1748763912 HTTP/2.0", host: "192.168.76.137"

I will appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Ivo

Hi Zhang,

I followed the documentation provided.

First, back up nginx files.
Second, edit nginx files as provided.
Then upgraded Roundcubemail to 1.7.0 as per documentation.

Restart nginx, restart server two-three times.

Let me know if you need any additional info.

Thanks,
Ivo

Nginx is configured to buffer cache the log, so you won't see the log in real time. Please remove "buffer=4k" in `/etc/nginx/conf-enabled/log.conf`, then restart Nginx service and access the web page again, check Nginx log files immediately.

It's not clear what the issue is without related log lines. Please try to grab more log lines for troubleshooting.

Hi Zhang,

I do not see "buffer=4k" in /etc/nginx/conf-enabled/log.conf

The content of /etc/nginx/conf-enabled/log.conf is:

access_log /var/www/logs/access.log;
error_log /var/www/logs/error.log;

Any other place to look?

I thing find typo in /etc/nginx/sites-available/00-default.conf or at least I was not able to get Let'sencript certificate before I edit this row:

    # Allow ACME challenge to be served over HTTP (don't redirect to HTTPS).
-  location ~* ^/.well-known/acme-challenge/ {
+  location ~* ^/.well_known/acme-challenge/ {
        root /opt/www/well_known;
        try_files $uri =404;
        allow all;
    }

Thanks a lot,
Ivo
