Topic: Backup and Restore

==== REQUIRED BASIC INFO OF YOUR IREDMAIL SERVER ====

I am running .0.9.7/Ubuntu 16.04/MySQL/Apache.  The VPS node I'm on is 'bad' and the company wants to move me to another node (while retaining my IP).

I am backing up the contents of /var/vmail to another system.

Is the help file - https://docs.iredmail.org/backup.restore.html - presently up to date?

Will following the backup.restore page get me a system identical to what I left behind (assuming .0.9.7)?

Thanks.  I'm a little paranoid of having data and no ability to get it back up and running.

Yes.

no.

It's strongly recommended to upgrade your server to the latest iRedMail-0.9.9 first, so that you get the same SQL structure, then backup SQL data.

After setting up new server with iRedMail-0.9.9, you can restore the SQL data directly without any change.

Re: Backup and Restore

I've taken a backup of the following:

the entire /var/vmail directory
the dkim directory (one file)
the letsencrypt directory

Is there anything else?

It seems that I should install .0.9.7 (what I'm running now) and restore my files - then I'm exactly where I was.
THEN do the upgrade.

Why would you suggest that I install the upgrade and then try to restore my files?  It seems counterintuitive.
