This is a good idea.

Our focus is iRedMail Enterprise Edition ("EE" for short) right now, and will release first stable release (v1.0.0) before Jan 15. We may take a look at this later, but cannot promise anything here. And we would like to get a production server for (migration) testing if possible.

For me it is the most time saving installation script ever.
Thank you for your great work.

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

I use iRedMail because I manage a gaming community and need email for communications for that.

I find it fast and easy to deploy.
I like the features it provides.
Obviously, I like that it's free to manage.

I also like that it's generally easy to troubleshoot.

Re: Why are you interested in iRedMail?

Hi.

I host some low traffic websites for various reasons. Mostly hobby related. I raise dairy goats and have a farm page I host. My neighbor has an astrophotography hobby and I host his as well. I also have a personal blog for my own purposes.

Some time ago I put together an iRedMail server to get emails for my farm page and my blog and a couple of others.

All of my separate pages and things are done in their own VirtualBox VM for separation. I have one for VPN server access so I can get in from the outside. One for Apache2 reverse proxy services. I have one dedicated VirtualBox VM for each website I host. I have no plans to change this strategy, as it makes management more of an individual page/service thing...which brings my up to my current conundrum.

iRedMail 1.6.6 worked right out of the box for my first email domain. Adding others was a pain, but doable. Getting the DNS entries so that Google doesn't mark them as spam is the biggest hurdle so far.

So far.

Until now. I have NOT been keeping with the upgrades, so I'm a little out of date. I am building a new VM to replace my mail server.

It is:
Debian 12
iRedMail 1.7.4
MySql
RoundCube web interface

Where should I look for the most straightforward migration path? I wish to keep my domains and users, but I can re-enter them at this point. All passwords are known and there aren't that many.

I have read somewhere that once the domains and users are recreated, all that is necessary is to copy the files under the path /var/vmail/vmail1 recursively to get the physical email files in. My question is, how are these then integrated into the database, or are they? I.e. "Does Roundcube get its folder/contents information from the actual files or from the database?

Anyway, thanks for creating this product and giving us options other than playing with the big boys...Yahoo, Microsoft, Google..
